This is another new technology used at our clinic. This technology uses the body’s own growth factors and autologous fibrin membranes in implantology and dentoalveolar surgery.
The PRGF System (developed by the Biotechnology Institute, Spain) is an minimally invasive method of enhancing and accelerating tissue and bone regeneration with the use of autologous plasmatic growth factors and fibrin. This high-level scientific method designed for use in a wide range of practical applications was developed and tested over the course of more than twelve years by Dr. Eduardo Anitua Aldecoa of the above institute.
This is an outpatient method of treatment that is extremely rapid, simple, effective and repeatable. It consists of taking the required amount of venous blood and centrifuging it for a period of 8 minutes at 460 G. Centrifuging leads to the separation of erythrocytes, leucocytes and three fractions of plasma. A five-millilitre test tube of blood will contain around 3 ml of the “red component” – erythrocytes, above it a thin “white component” – leucocytes, and 2 ml of three fractions of plasma – fraction 3 (around 0.5 ml above the leucocytes), fraction 2 (0.5 ml) and fraction 1 (around 1 ml).
In addition to its use in everyday practice in dentoalveolar surgery, implantology and parodontology, the PRGF System also finds applications in maxillofacial surgery and traumatology, e.g. in the treatment of bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and cartilage. It is also used in dermatology (mesotherapy), ophthalmology, plastic surgery, vascular surgery and many other areas of medicine.
