The purpose of the restorative stomatology performed at our clinic is both to preserve healthy teeth and to treat damaged teeth, usually teeth damaged by tooth decay or by an injury of some kind. Following a comprehensive examination, including the production of x-ray images, your dentist will propose various possible treatments and draw up an individual plan of treatment and a financial plan for you. Individual procedures are then performed according to this treatment plan, from simple fillings to endodontic treatments that help protect damaged roots. We perform all procedures at our dental clinic with the greatest possible regard to the patient’s medical condition in a considerate and pain-free manner.
Fillings
traditional amalgam
- traditional amalgam is the material of choice for the back teeth
- It may present problems relating to functionality – this type of amalgam is characterised by inferior mechanical properties and again carries a risk of decay forming beneath the filling.
white photocomposite filling
- White photocomposite filling is convenient over a long period aesthetically and functionally, it is primarily indicated for front teeth, but is also suitable for back teeth. In addition to aesthetics, the advantages include the fact that not too much tooth tissue needs to be drilled out, only the "decayed" part of the tooth, and the fact that it strengthens the tooth. Its relative disadvantages include the need for excellent hygiene to prevent new cavities from forming around the filling.
- Glass inomer cement – the best option for pregnant women, nursing mothers, and children. It is a long-term temporary filling that remineralizes the surrounding tooth tissue, but it lacks sufficient mechanical strength, and the surface often "chews" over a period of 2-5 years.
Root canal treatment (endodontics)
This treatment is performed under local anesthesia (numbness), consists of removing the nerve from the tooth, finding all the canals in the root of the tooth, cleaning and widening the canals with special drills and finally filling them. At our clinic, we basically use one of the modern methods of filling with heated material for filling the canals. In our case, it is the Thermafil system, when heated gutta-percha posts are inserted into the treated canals, which, together with cement, hermetically seal the root system. An integral part of the treatment is also high-quality so-called post-endodontic treatment, which means reconstructing the tooth to its original shape, where we mainly emphasize that the tooth is sufficiently strengthened and thus prevent it from cracking.
